Duration: 4 Weeks Class Level: Beginner 1 / Novice 1 Day/Time: Saturdays @ 10am - 3pm Location: Hyde Park Neighborhood Club 5480 S. Kenwood Ave Chicago, IL 60615 Registration Fee: N/A Tuition: $198 Field Trip Fees*: $60 Age: 7 - 13 years (must be able to read) Materials: All worksheets included Lunch & snack is included. Not always be an African meal. Childen with allergies can bring their own meal & snacks. Yoruba Language-based Curriculum will cover:
Cultural discovery through arts (play, visual & performing) Introductions and Basic Greetings Greeting Etiquettes and Gestures Yoruba Alphabets and Tones Numbers and Sequence Yoruba Pronouns (Singular/Plural) Possesive, Subjective & Objective Pronouns Everyday Verbs & Simple Sentence Formation Negation of Sentences (As time allows) Present, Current and Future Tenses (As time allows) Asking & Answering Questions (As time allows) *Field Trip to African Restaurant *Field Trip to African Market *Field Trips are optional but highly recommended. Students will be able to put language knowlegde to practice. Transportation is provided by Image Transport Services (licensed and bonded). Students with allergies can bring own food. During field trips, Students will enter restaurant/market, greet people, ask and respond to questions, purchase and pay for their individual foods/items (they will all be given Naira to pay. Restaurant/Store Merchants are in on the exercises.) We will not be doing any cooking during this camp.
