2015/2016 AFRICAN CULTURE IMMERSION FIELD-TRIPS
TO THE CAKE AFRICAN VILLAGE
Our passion is introducing students to the unique richness that African cultures have to offer through language, visual and performing arts. Using an entertaining and educative combination of African music, dance, plays, language, crafts, cuisine and more, we help expand students' cross-cultural acumen and sensitivity.
Promoting Cultural Diversity and Awareness: As the world's second largest continent, Africa is known for its vastly diverse cultures and people. There are over 3,000 distinct ethnic groups in Africa. At the C.A.K.E. Village, we provide students with an opportunity to experience some of the larger, well-known African cultures. We immerse students in facets of the featured culture with the aim of building an appreciation of the cultural differences. Students engaging with and learning about different cultures also motivates new ways of thinking. Engaging with worlds that exist outside their own is key to helping students develop into great global citizens with positive social consciences.
